After two years, Aliatrix returned to Satu Mare, Romania
Satu Mare is a picturesque town in the north of Romania. Culture is really alive there. The biggest event is the annual Street Music Festival, which welcomes artists from all over the world. Musicians, artists, actors and performers crowd the streets of the city and entertain visitors with their art throughout the weekend.
Street Music Festival 2022
We visited this festival for the first time in 2022, when we presented our tribal fire show to the audience. It was a huge success. We won second prize in the festival competition as well, where the audience voted for the performance they liked the most.
Experiencing the atmosphere of this festival, where the city comes alive with beautiful performances by talented artists, was magical. We had hoped to be able to attend the festival again sometime, and our wish came true this year.
Street Music Festival 2024 - back again!
When the organizers of the Street Music Festival invited us again after two years, we didn't hesitate for a minute. We wanted to return to Satu Mare and repeat the experience.
The year 2024 was the 10th anniversary of the festival and the organisers invited the best of the artists who have performed at the festival over the years. It was a huge honour for us to be included.
We decided to perform the same show again. The drum fire show is full not only of pyrotechnics and effects, but most importantly interaction with the audience.
This captivated the audience last time - performers in the role of savages and shamans jumped among them, made faces at them, shouted together with the crowd and made animal sounds. This entertained children and adults alike.
This show is the most interactive of our fire shows. It's also really fun to perform. We enjoy the interaction with the audience the most.
Thursday - journey to Romania and arrival at the festival
We drove to Romania by two cars. We planned to arrive the day before the festival. We wanted to have enough time to check in and see the venues where we would be performing. And also to enjoy the beauty of the city.
When we arrived at the festival we got a very warm welcome from the organizing team. They walked us through and showed us the 6 stages located around the square.
The festival lasts three nights. We had 2 shows planned for every one of the nights, each on a different stage. Moving between stages in a short space of time is a technical challenge we had to be prepared for.
The biggest surprise
Then something totally unexpected happened. Festival visitors started to recognize us . They remembered us and greeted us on the street. They told us they were looking forward to seeing us and couldn't wait for the evening show. Kids were hugging us, people were taking pictures with us, we almost felt like local celebrities.
That kind of welcome is the greatest reward an artist can get. We're still touched by it.
Friday - the festival beggins
Preparations for the first show of the festival went smoothly. We changed at the hotel and headed out into the streets in costumes.
When we started to prepare the equipment on stage, an excited crowd was waiting for us. Then the first notes of music started and the shaman stepped on stage. The audience welcomed him with applause and shouts of joy.
Those who knew the show already knew what was coming. They encouraged the performers and the rest of the audience quickly joined in.
Saturday and Sunday
Some of the audience members came back again and again for our performances. By the third and fourth performance, we felt at home on stage. The audience knew what to expect from us, we knew what to expect from them and we all enjoyed it.
By Sunday, we started to feel the fatigue. Two shows a night is physically demanding. But we still had a final show on the main stage and we wanted to give it our all.
The crowd was amazing. They were supporting us with thunderous applause, the kids were shouting along with the savages. It was a pleasure to perform for them. They gave us strength and we could give our best to the show. We ended the show with a spectacular pyrotechnic finale.
After the last show, we had to say goodbye to Satu Mare and headed back while still feeling the adrenaline from the final show. But before that, despite our fatigue, we couldn't resist enjoying the rest of the festival. We made it through a tough weekend together and we had to celebrate!
Satu Mare left us with unforgettable memories again and we are looking forward to coming back to the Street Music Festival.
See you next time!
